Your Staff

An undertaking like The Middle Horn Leader can't happen without the hard work of our volunteer staff.  Many of these folks toiled together on hot practice fields for countless hours.  Psychiatric counseling has offered many enhancements for these victims as they entered their post-drum corps lives.  Those memories that weren't corrected by therapy make up the content of this website.

Some people have a passion about mid-voice, others have an obsession.  Mike's obsession with the middle horns began with the Pride of Cincinnati Drum and Bugle Corps prior to their demise in 1985.  He spent the remainder of his junior corps years with the Star of Indiana as a member of the mellophone section from 1985 through 1988.  Mike currently resides in Cincinnati and works as a second shift sorter room manager for US Bank.  He is also a performing member of Star United.

Sean Conley   email

Some people have an obsession about mid-voice, others have a dangerous compulsion. Sean Conley entered the Star of Indiana in 1986 and aged out in 1991.  He transitioned to the Brass Staff of Star of Indiana and was elected to the corps' coveted "Hall of Fame" in 1997.  Sean's professional background in engineering has allowed him to apply his knowledge to the mellophone.  Sean is a performing member of Star United and, more importantly, the proud father of son Rhys.

Jeff Freelin   email

Jeff Freelin entered into the junior activity as a mellophone performer with the Star of Indiana in 1987.  His talent as a musician work ethic resulted in Jeff being the featured mellophone soloist for the corps that season.  Jeff moved on to the Madison Scouts for their championship season in 1988.   Jeff obtained his PhD in philosophy from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, where he lives with his wife, Tammy, and his young son Jackson.
