K362 Safety Expo, Indianapolis, Indiana

October 12, 2006

On Thursday, October 12th, the K362 project held a safety expo on site from 10am to 2pm.  The expo consisted of 15 different vendors handing out freebies and information about their latest and greatest products.  Many of the vendors displayed various types of PPE that they offer.  Some examples include the different types of kevlar products such as sleeves and gloves since our most recent injuries have been occurring with sharp edges and objects.

Many different styles of harnesses were available to view and try on as well as different types of fall protection systems that can be used in abnormal situations.  MOHC was offering blood pressure checks and Body Mass Index results for the individuals who wanted to participate.  Koorsen Fire Protection made the most common household fire prevention products available to buy since National Fire Protection Awareness was last week or the week before.  The event was well received by all of the craft members on the project and it raised their awareness about other products being available for safety than just the one's that their company provides them.  I'm guessing that approximately 500 to 600 individuals cruised through the display.  The event was also in conjunction with achieving 100,000 safe man hours on the project.

Congratulations to Collin McGrady and Justin Griffith for all their work in facilitating this successful event.
